Fashion news of the day – December 16th 2015

Let’s see what’s new on the internet about fashion and lifestyle.

We start with internet gig, something to do with Pinterest and what they recommend of buying to your “basic” friend.  The’ve introduced Buyable Pins function this year, something that allows people who pin things to have their products purchased directly from a mobile platform. It’s great for a lot of people around the web who pin things that have in their shops, if they are small or big companies. 

The problem is that you have to search a lot on the web for the products that you want, when you can find clothes from a lot of world best websites in one place: StylishCircle (now you can download the Stylish Circle mobile app forAndroid if you just want to see what are the best clothes that you can buy).

Still, as an idea, it is profitable one, since they are millions of people that use pinterest everyday to search for different things to buy. Or maybe just to see some movie quotes.

If we’ve started with good news from the internet shopping market, we go to the biggest designers shake-ups of 2015. Some of the mentions: Donna Karan leaves Donna Karan company, Alexander Wang leaves Balenciaga, Alber Elbaz leaves Lanvin and the most important of them all: Raf Simons leaves Dior.

The Hip Churches

It’s the article number 20, and most of the times it would be a simple article about the latest fashion news in the industry. But for this one, I am going to talk just a little bit about an article that I saw in New York Times. Still related to style, but something interesting is happening in churches of California. As the author of the article says (Sheila Marikar), LosAngeles churches want to make church worship more hip.

If there is something to change in the US, it got to start in one of two places: New York or Los Angeles. This big towns have been in the forefront of change since the beginning of the century, so seeing one of those town having some changes regarding his churches is not quite a surprise.

I’ve left a link to the article in the first paragraph, you can read it in depth. 

My conclusion after reading it ? Catholic Church is losing ground and young people are not that interested into the church, so they are trying more ways to convince them to come back to a preach to spread the word of God. They say. And what better way to do it that to convince Hollywood stars to come and make free publicity, after all ?

I know it’s about faith I should not comment that much, but still, as we can see in US, the catholic church is less popular (especially in east and west coast, the regions with the highest number of people in the US) and tries in different ways to get people back to the church on Sundays. If it’s going to work, we will see in the future.

Fashion News of the Day – December 14th 2015

Let’s see what are the latest fashion news from the industry.

There aren’t many things to say about Christmas sweaters, only that they are not particularly nice and fashionable. Elle.com has a list with Christmas party sweaters that are not that ugly, even wearable. In another Elle.com article, we can see some of the best dressed stars in the last week, with names like Solange Knowles, Alicia Wikander, Lena Dunham and Gigi Hadid.

In Vogue we find out that Louis Vuitton is going for a show for its pre spring / summer 2017 in Rio de Janeiro. This news comes after Chanel announced that it will go to Cuba in May for a show.

Alex McQueen moves his show to London, relocationg it from Paris for its autumn / winter 2016 show. The collection is slated to show in catwalk format in February 21st , 2016. The fashion house will return here for a season only, to the birthplace of the brand founder, a good occasion to celebrate its 23rd anniversary.

And at the end, we are going with a news that will make you smile. It’s not about fashion, but it’s about Serena Williams, an incredible performer on the tennis court, but not in that good fitness levels when it comes to running. In her 5000 meters charity race she only managed to run a part of it, the rest of the trip was made with a taxi. The race took place in Miami Beach Florida, and it was an occasion to raise money for Serena Williams Fund. The author of the original article ended: “We still love you, Serena. Please don't beat us up.”

Fashion News of the Day – December 9th 2015

Let’s see what are the latest fashion news.

First, Elle starts with an article regarding gifts for men, apparently a topic that gives headaches to some womens. So Elle’s Menswear Editor decided to compile a list with 27 gifts that you could get for your friend / husband. Some are quite normal, like a bracelet, t-shirt or socks, others are expensive like the iPad Pro or Apple Pencil and other are the usual gifts, like perfumes or some wine. The weirdest of them all was certainly the Hovertrax, which at $1500 is quite expensive.

NY Times has an article today about kids wearing formalwear, saying that everybody loved boys and girls in formal clothes. There are some lovely pictures that you can see here.

And we end with some important transaction in the fashion industry. Sergio Rossi has be sold by Kering to Investindustrial. The French entrepreneur has sold 100 % of the business, including label’s trademark rights and distribution network. No numbers were specified during the press release. It’s been a rumor that begin almost an year ago, that Sergio Rossi would be sold by Kering, but only now we’ve heard some news.

First, a little bit about the Pirelli calendar for 2016 – it’s been an interesting news to see that Pirelli is going to change the stile for the coming calendar. A cultural shift, as NYTimes said. In this year’s Pirelli calendar we are not going to see nudes (almost) and we are going to see some names in there like Amy Schumer, Agned Gund, Fran Lebowitz, Mellody Hobson, Yoko Ono, Ava DuVernay, Patti Smith and Serena Williams. An interesting approach to this popular calendar.

Another news from today talks about the winners of popular show “America’s Next Top Model” and how are they doing right now, with models like Adrianne Curry, a former waitress in her hometown, now away from modelling, attending Comic-Con and playing games on twich, after years of TV career in shows like The Sureal Life or My Fair Brady. There are other former models, but we will discuss them in a separate article.

Let’s see what fashion news we have for today

First, Kate Middleton is acutally getting fashion advice from Cara Delevingne’s mom, Pandora. Apparently, Pandora is a personal shopper for the British Department store and it’s very close with the royal family, as it is all his family.

Some numbers popped up after the Black Friday and Cyber Monday sells, with sales of over $ 2.9 billion this year just for Adobe. So we might have some big numbers this year as well. We shall see when all the big fashion magazines come up with their finance after the thangsgiving holidays.

And finally, a news that should have been on this blog last week, if not for a power cut and a lack of adding this on the set list. I am speaking of course about Justin Bieber stylist explaining why he wears long t-shirts all the time. And the simple reason is for that is that they want to promote him with a cleaner and modern look.

Second lawsuit avoided for Taylor Swift

Copyright lawsuits are something that almost every musician has gone through. But for Taylor Swift, those are quite frequent, as it was this week, when she avoided her second court reading after a judge dismissed accusations that the singer stolen the lyrics for her 2014 hit song “Shake it off”.

Jesse Braham has claimed that Taylor Swift had taken the chorus from her song “Haters Gone Hate”, a song released in 2013. She asked 42 millions $ as compensations as well as a request to be credited as writer and to take a selfie with the singer (odd request).

"At present, the court is not saying that Braham can never, ever, ever get his case back in court. But, for now, we have got problems, and the court is not sure Braham can solve them," she ruled. "

Swift settled a copyright infringement case out of court with the clothing brand Lucky 13. They accused her of selling T-shirts under name that featured it’s trademark logo.

Let’s see what’s new in the fashion and celebrity world today, November 16^th 2015.

First, we are starting with some celebrity news, and the celebrity under radar today is Kate Moss, who apparently has (and now had) a secret Instagram Account which she used to see what is trending in the world. As she said, it uses this account for “spying purposes”, only to keep up with what is trending in the world.

Second, a littlearticle on Elle about sequins and how to make them wearable for day time. This season you could pair the sparkly fabric for daytime in skirts, party shoes or turtleneck. And that not mentioning purses or bags that can be made fabulous with sequins.

And third, let’s wish a happy birthday to Lily Aldridge, the famous Victoria’s Secret Angel, who turned 30 on Saturday. We are not the only one that wished her happy birthday, because Tailor Swift and Candice Swanepoel have also sent her best wishes.

Fourth, let's get something for the male readers of this blog with some stylish winter clothes for men like jackets, coats, scarves, gloves, boots and many many more. You can choose how you combine them.

Fashion News of the Day – November 10th 2015

After a short break, we are back with the latest news from the fashion world. Let’s see what is new in fashion industry today.

First – Let’s talk a little bit about Jennifer Lawrence and her incredible nighttime look that she had on the French premiere of the Hunger Games: Part 2 – Mockingjay. An unexpected look, but something interesting for a premiere. The dress was made by Christian Dior.

And Secondly – Raf Simons gave an interview in which he explained that fashion was nicer when it was elitist, thinking that the problem was making high fashion accessible. Now, there are a lot of opinions in that regard, but we will abstain from any certain comments, because we don’t want any hate around this blog.

Let’s just say that Raf Simons left Christion Dior two weeks ago, citing “personal reasons”. There are a lot of things to check about, but you can read all of them in an interview that he gave to Cathy Horyn on Business Off Fashion.

Some advice for a good sleep {Health}

Normally, we talk fashion all day here on this blog, but from time to time it’s quite good to talk about something else. And since it’s a period in which it’s seems that I can’t get that easy to sleep. In bed. In a comfy room.

After some nights of poor sleep, it’s going to start affecting your work performance and overall health, and in time can lead to a greater risk of developing depression, anger, diabetes and heart diseases. So I’ve searched online and I’ve found some ways to sleep easily.

First, before the sleep period is important – try not to eat at least two hours before going to bed and try to relax your muscles, with simple movements and easy stretching.

It’s important that you have a daily routine, so you can easily prep yourself for every part of the day. If you have a good schedule, it’s easier to get to sleep and get up in the morning.

Another important thing is to keep your room at a good temperature, no more than 15-20 Celsius, depending on how do you handle the cold / heat. It’s important not to be too hot, because you are going to have a sweaty night.

Another advice: try to turn of TV’s or cell phones before going to sleep. They emit blue light, so they are going to be like a stimulant. Try instead reading a book or solving a puzzle.

It’s time to make some changes in my life starting today. I hope that my sleep would improve.

Fashion News of the day – October 28th 2015

Let’s get you some fashion news for today, starting with a new app that fashion world starts to love it. 

The app is called Boomerang, and it’s not a new service, but an Instagram app that allows you to upload your outfit of the day or the latest shoes or bag that you just bought, but in motion. Not like in a video, it kind of plays a back and forth movement on a continuous loop. We have just started checking out the app, so if you have started as well, let us know in the comments.

In other news, a transgender mom wants to be a Victoria’s Secret Angel. Considering what kind of selection is for a place on the Victoria Secret collection stage, some would wonder if she would be suitable for such a place. The person we are talking about is Carmen Carrera, who is kind of an established actress, having played in a movie alongside Meryl Streep. Here dream now is to walk on a presentation of Victoria’s Secret underwear. That would be indeed some interesting news.

-          A big wedding in China got a lot of attention recently, mostly because the bride is a Chinese star names Angelababy, named China’s Kim Kardashian. Of course, the groom has named “China’s Kanye”, although his real name is Huang Xiaoming, an actor from Shanghai. Normally this is a just a celebrity news, but with a high price tag: 31 million dollars were spend for this wedding (all the arrangements, including wedding clothes), and in that you can include a Dior wedding gown similar to the one worn by Kate Middleton when she walked the aisle. And in other details, the bride’s ivory satin took five months to construct – they had to make a lace embroidery, sheer sleeves and a 3 meter long train.

-         Demi Lovato started off with her modelling career after she announced that she signed with Wilhelmina Models.

- New looks from H & M and Balmain – a collaboration between the giant of clothes selling (H &M) and Balmain, a brand that the Kardashians love to wear launches on November 5^th, just weeks away.
